Rebound therapy

Rebound therapy began to be developed in the 1980s, by a physiotherapist named Eddy Anderson who worked with children with both physical and learning disabilities.

The therapy is now widely recognised and in use around the world, making a difference for many children as part of their overall physiotherapy programmes. It’s an effective aid in many different ways, and as it involves bouncing on a trampoline, rebound therapy is a fun and exciting activity that children love to do.

What are the benefits of rebound therapy?

  • Building up exercise ability and stamina
  • Improved balance
  • Improved muscle tone
  • Faster reaction speeds
  • Improved self-awareness of body position, motion and balance
  • Improved perception of height and depth
  • Better co-ordination
  • Improved eye contact

Parents and therapists often also report other, subtler improvements related to rebound therapy:

  • Independence and self-confidence
  • Better communication
  • More patience
  • Improved self-image
  • Less on-edge
  • Sense of achievement
  • More consideration of others
  • More trust and confidence in the physiotherapist
  • Fun and enjoyment

We run extra clinics in the school holidays to maintain the benefits of rebound therapy. The sessions are very popular, so it’s advisable to contact us early to check availability.
