About the Role

This neuro and complex rehab physiotherapist post offers the unique opportunity to combine innovative intensive rehabilitation technology such as robotic gait trainers, upper limb robotics and virtual reality rehabilitation with the latest specialist neurophysio skills and techniques. Our technology forms part of our innovative three-pronged approach to treatment which has been designed to provide our patients with the best possible outcomes.

You will work with clients, in both 1:1 treatment and group working environments, with a range of neurological and complex presentations, including diagnoses such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex orthopaedic injury, and many other neurological and complex conditions.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • To undertake the specialist assessment of neurological conditions, carry out diagnostic procedures and interpret the results for neurology patients with multi-faceted problems, including those with a highly complex presentation.
  • Using clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence-based practice and advanced specialist expertise determine the appropriate care plan, utilising specialist treatment skills and options.
  • To provide highly specialised advice on care and treatment for patients with neurological conditions based on theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience and to be consulted frequently for specialist advice and guidance by other health care professionals as required
  • To provide comprehensive physiotherapy intervention to clients in the community, inpatient facilities and within an outpatient clinic.
  • To be competent in assessing a wide range of conditions experienced by patients with neurological conditions based on theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology often in situations where conflicting evidence is present.
  • To demonstrate highly developed manual dexterity, co-ordination, palpatory skills, manual physiotherapy techniques and manual/therapeutic handling.
  • To be responsible for the designated clinical caseload working within a multi-disciplinary team ensuring clients receive optimum level of therapy within available resources.
  • To keep accurate up-to-date records on patient care and equipment provision, which are in accordance with quality standards of the Trust/Service policies and The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • To provide written and/or verbal reports to referrers and other agencies involved in clients care and participate in clinical meetings as agreed and where necessary.
  • To assist in the development of The Rehab Physio service to ensure effective evidence-based treatment to the patient and to develop the skills required to undertake this.
  • To contribute to the development of information that enables clients to understand and self-manage their condition whenever possible.
  • To be involved in clinical innovation, using research evidence-based practice and clinical networks
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the practitioners professional activities.

Required Experience

Essential:

  • A range of placement or rotational experience (or other relevant pre-qualification experience)

Desirable:

  • 1 years relevant experience in physiotherapy
  • Previous neurological physio experience

Required Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree level qualification in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the HCPC
  • Member of the CSP
  • Evidence of CPD
